Missing US sailor rescued after 66 days at sea

Washington, Apr 3 (IBNS) A US sailor, who was missing for more than two months, has been found by a passing German tanker 200 miles off the North Carolina coast, media reports said on Friday.

"Louis Jordan, 37, took his 35-foot sailboat out in late January and hadn't been heard from in 66 days when he was spotted Thursday afternoon by the Houston Express on his ship drifting in the Atlantic Ocean," CNN reported.

His father Frank Jordan told CNN: "He's got very strong constitution and (is strong) not only physically, but spiritually."

"And he told me on the phone that he was praying the whole time, so I believe that sustained him a great deal," he said.

Lt. Krystyn Pecora of the Coast Guard was quoted as saying by the channel that the sailor told his father that during this period he had survived by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater.
