John Tory favourite in Toronto mayoral election 2018: Poll
The survey.suggests Doug Ford, who has a plan to contest the next year's election, will have a very little chance to defeat Tory, media reports said.
A recent poll survey found John Tory will overcome the challenges of Ford in the 2018 municipal election of Toronto as the present mayor will emerge victorious with 27 points.
However, if Tory faces both Ford and city councillor Mike Layton, the election might turn interesting.
In case of Layton coming into the play, Tory might lose 20 points with the split of progressive votes.
In a statement which was quoted by the Star, Quito Maggi, president of Mainstreet Research, said: "John Tory has nothing to fear from a one-on-one matchup against Doug Ford."
“But things get much more interesting if there’s a strong progressive candidate in the race,” he added.
Ford in the last week announced that he is planning to contest the mayoral election in 2018.
Ford, who is also a businessman apart from a politician, remained the councillor of the city between 2010 and 2014.
He was the councillor when his brother late Rob Ford remained the mayor of Toronto.
