Washington DC/IBNS: Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show has been suspended "indefinitely" by Walt Disney-owned ABC after the popular host made a controversial remark on Charlie Kirk, a Conservative activist and US President Donald Trump's loyalist, who was shot dead at a public event.

Kimmel is known for his sharp humor, celebrity interviews, and comedic sketches at the show Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

In the show, Kimmel had said, "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

"In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving..." added the host, who passes satirical comments on the Trump administration in the popular show.

As it was expected, Trump called ABC's decision to pull down the show "Great news for America."

In a post on Truth Social, the President said, "The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.

"Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT."

Charlie was last week shot dead during his address at the Utah Valley University in Orem.

A single gunshot was fired and it struck Charlie on his neck when he was addressing the students at the university.

He was speaking at an outdoor "Prove Me Wrong" table as part of his American Comeback Tour.

Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old key suspect, was arrested by the police.
