India, Australia and Canada launch trilateral tech partnership at G20 summit
Johannesburg/IBNS: India, Australia, and Canada officially launched a new trilateral technology and innovation partnership, named the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation Partnership (ACITI), aimed at enhancing cooperation in critical minerals, clean energy, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The announcement came on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the three prime ministers—Narendra Modi of India, Anthony Albanese of Australia, and Mark Carney of Canada—met to discuss and formalise the partnership.
"We’ll work more closely together on clean energy, critical minerals, and AI to unlock new research, more opportunities, and greater prosperity," Carney wrote on X.

The three sides agreed to strengthen their ambition in cooperation on critical and emerging technologies, to complement existing bilateral initiatives.
"The initiative will draw on the natural strengths of the three countries and have an emphasis on green energy innovation and building resilient supply chains, including in critical minerals," said the three governments in a joint statement.
The partnership will also explore the development and large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence to improve public services and daily life.
Officials from the three countries are expected to meet in the first quarter of 2026 to advance the initiative.
