Hunt on for restaurant blast suspects in Toronto

| @indiablooms | May 26, 2018, at 01:59 pm

Toronto, May 25 (IBNS): Police have launched a manhunt today to arrest the two men suspected to be involved in the IED blast yesterday that injured 15, three of them critically, at Bombay Bhel restaurant in Mississauga near Toronto.

"There’s no indication this is a terrorist attack. There's no indication this is a hate crime,” Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans said during a news conference this morning. “At this time, we haven’t ruled anything out as we start our investigation.”

The suspects walked into the Indian restaurant around 10.30pm and detonated the device, police said. They then fled in a vehicle, Evans said.

Surveillance photos showed the men wearing jeans and dark-colored hoodies. One’s face was covered with a black cloth, the police said.

Two parties, including a birthday celebration, were being held at the restaurant at the time of the explosion, Evans said.

The injured are in a stable condition and many have been released from the hospital after treatment.

Leaders from across the political spectrum condemned the act, including the top party candidates in the Ontario provincial elections next month.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted; “We’re in solidarity with the victims of this violence, and wish a swift recovery to the injured. We’re working closely with police and officials in Mississauga on this.”
