A German cyclist travelling across multiple countries worldwide had his bicycle stolen in Pakistani city of Islamabad, in an incident that has once again drawn attention to security concerns faced by foreigners in the country.

According to local media reports, Philipp Sam had set up camp along the Islamabad Expressway for the night.

He was left shocked the next morning after discovering that his expensive bicycle and camera were missing.

Culprits Arrested

Following intervention by the German Embassy Islamabad, the Islamabad Police launched an investigation into the incident, as reported by The Nation.

Authorities later recovered the stolen bicycle and arrested those responsible.

A case has been registered against the accused.

Reports indicate that the culprits were drug addicts who frequented the streets and allegedly stole the bicycle when they found an opportunity.

The recovered bicycle has since been returned to the German national.
