France rejects security concerns about Paris Olympics opening ceremony

Paris: France's General Directorate for Internal Security has rejected any concerns about the security situation during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris amid reports casting doubt on its safety, the French Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti on Friday.

The national media reported on Thursday that the French intelligence services recommend changing the format of the Olympic opening ceremony since the expected parade of athletes on the Seine embankment poses too many risks against the backdrop of the terrorist threat.

"Contrary to what is reported in some media, the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) denies any concern about the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which will take place on July 26 in Paris," a ministry representative said.
