The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said on Friday it has foiled a possible terrorist attack in Michigan and arrested several suspects who were allegedly planning to strike during the Halloween weekend.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the development in a post on X, commending law enforcement agencies for their swift response.

“This morning, the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend. More details to come,” Patel wrote.

He added, “Thanks to the men and women of the FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and carrying out our mission to defend the homeland.”

While Patel did not share further details, a senior federal law enforcement source told Fox News that the foiled plot was linked to international terrorism.

According to NBC News, federal agents detained five suspects from Dearborn and Inkster, Michigan, who were allegedly planning an attack in the U.S. with ties to ISIS extremism.

The suspects are naturalized U.S. citizens from a Middle Eastern nation and had access to firearms and weapons training, officials told the outlet.

The intended target of the attack remains unclear, and authorities have not released the names of the detained suspects.
