Donald Trump warns of bombing Iran if talks fail, says US ‘ready to go’
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a stark warning that the United States could launch military strikes on Iran if ongoing negotiations fail, saying the American military is “raring to go” for war.
“I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with. But we’re ready to go,” Trump said, signalling a hardline stance ahead of the ceasefire deadline.
‘We’re loaded up’: Military prepared, says Trump
The US President said American forces are fully stocked and prepared for any escalation. “We’re loaded up… we have so much ammo, so much of everything,” he told CNBC, adding that the military has used the pause in fighting to restock.
He reiterated that Washington is in a strong negotiating position and does not see a need to extend the current ceasefire.
Earlier warning: ‘Lots of bombs will go off’
A day earlier, Trump had told PBS that if the ceasefire collapses, “lots of bombs” could follow, underlining the seriousness of the situation.
The current two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran is set to expire on Wednesday, adding urgency to diplomatic efforts.
Iran signals retaliation with ‘new surprises’
Iran, meanwhile, has responded with its own warning, saying it is fully prepared for a new round of conflict. According to reports by the Tasnim News Agency, Tehran has readied “new surprises” and drawn up fresh target lists in anticipation of possible war.
Officials indicated that Iran could unleash “another hell” on US and allied forces if hostilities resume.
Talks uncertain as tensions rise
Despite both sides expressing openness to negotiations, tensions remain high, particularly around the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.
A second round of talks is scheduled in Islamabad, with the US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance expected to attend.
However, Iran has signalled it may skip the meeting, citing recent “provocative actions,” casting doubt over the diplomatic path forward.
