Melfort, Jan 8 (IBNS): Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, the truck driver involved in Humboldt Broncos crash, pleaded guilty to all charges against him on Tuesday, CTV News reported.

Sidhu is charged with 16 counts of dangerous driving leading to death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

However, the accused said he doesn't want a trial.

Sidhu's lawyer, Mark Brayford, has been quoted by CTV News as saying, "His position to me was, 'I just want to plead guilty. I don't want you to plea bargain. I don't want a trial."

"Mr. Sidhu advised me: 'I don't want to make things any worse. I can't make things any better, but I certainly don't want to make them worse by having a trial," Brayford added.

What was the incident?

In April 2018, the collision between Humboldt Broncos team bus and a transport truck claimed 16 lives and left 13 others injured.

Sixteen people who were killed include Humboldt Broncos head coach Darcy Haugan along with several other players.

The victims include players Adam Herold, Connor Lukan, Evan Thomas, Jacob Leicht, Jaxon Joseph, Logan Boulet, Logan Hunter, Logan Schatz, Stephen Wack, Parker Tobin, team personnel Brody Hinz, Darcy Haugan, Glen Doerksen, Mark Cross and Tyler Beiber.

The team were on its way to Game 5 of a semi-final against the same team the Humboldt will take on tonight.
