Canada: Toronto encourages residents to apply for thousands of temporary job vacancies in municipal election

Toronto/IBNS: Applications for more than 15,000 temporary paid positions to help deliver the 2022 municipal election are being accepted starting Jul 11 by Toronto Elections.

Election day for this year will be held on October 24.

Positions that are available include managing deputy returning officers, ballot officers, tabulator officers and customer service officers.

Applicants who are at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in Canada are encouraged to apply for a position through the Toronto Elections Jobs webpage.

People without access to a computer, or to the Internet and who require assistance applying for an election position can call the recruitment line at 416-338-1111 and press 2, or TTY 416-338-0TTY (0889).

In addition to learning about how to run a fair and accessible election, successful applicants who work at the election can sharpen their skills in customer service, problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork.

Necessary efforts will be made to place applicants in their preferred position at a voting location closest to their identified home address.
