Canada: Tornado rips apart Ottawa, several people without power

Ottawa, Sept 22 (IBNS): A Tornado has left several people without power after ripping apart Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, on Friday afternoon, media reports said.

Tens of thousands are presently without power in Ottawa, CTV News.

Officials are warning people to brace power cut for days.

The officials also urged people to stockpile food and water.

More than 145,000 people were without power on Saturday morning.

Hydro Ottawa CEO Bryce Conrad said the outages came as a "cascading failure" of resources which are owned by provincial utility Hydro One.

Hydro Ottawa shown the impact of Tornado by sharing a video on Twitter.

The tweet reads, "Drone footage showing the extent of the damage in the Greenbank Rd area of the city. For your safety and the safety of our crews, please stay away for all hydroelectric infrastructure."
