Canada sees rush of 67,000 new jobs in January

Ottawa, Feb 8 (IBNS): Canada saw a rush of 67,000 net new jobs in the month of January, Statistics Canada said.

The number of new jobs increased among youth aged between 15 and 24 and in the services-producing industries.

On a year-over-year basis, total employment was up by 327,000 or 1.8%.

The increase occurred in both full time and part times jobs.

However, the unemployment rate also increased by 0.2%.

The unemployment rate increased to 5.8% as more people have looked for work.
