Canada PM Justin Trudeau to contest 2019 federal election

Ottawa, Aug 20 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will once again contest the 2019 federal election, CTV News reported.

Trudeau made the announcement at a party event in his Montreal riding of Papineau.

The Prime Minister belongs to the Liberal party.

Following the announcement of his nomination, the partisan crowd cheered.

Trudeau also vowed to tackle a number of challenges which include protecting Canada's oceans and raising the standard of living of Indigenous people.

The Liberal leader also said he will work to bridge the gap between rich and poor if gets re-elected in 2019.

Trudeau, who had won from Papineau for the first time in 2008, was re-elected in 2011 and 2015.
