Tech firm Astronomer confirmed on Friday that its CEO, Andy Byron, has been placed on leave after he was caught on camera embracing an employee in a Jumbotron video at a Coldplay concert.

The company's co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Pete DeJoy, will serve as the interim CEO in his absence.

Sharing its decision on LinkedIn, Astronomer wrote: "Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave."

In another statement, the New York-based company said: "Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability."

The company said the Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter.

Coldplay concert

The Coldplay concert in Boston, Massachusetts proved to be costly for Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his company's HR head Kristin Cabot, whose moment of embracing each other at the event went viral through the kiss cam.

The two, who are accused of having a secret affair, were spotted holding each other close as they listened to the British rock band.

As the scene was captured on the kiss cam, Andy and Kristin looked uncomfortable and they soon drifted away to hide their faces.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin reacted to the moment saying, "Oh look at these two... either they are having an affair or they're very shy."

The video went viral on social media.
