Argentina: 2 helicopters collide mid-air, 10 killed

Buenos Aires, Mar 10 (IBNS) At least 10 people were killed as two helicopters collided in mid-air at Villa Castelli area in Argentina's La Rioja province, media reports said.

According to reports, eight French citizens and two Argentine nationals were killed in the mishap.

"The deceased were part of a team that were filming a documentary in the area. One of the helicopters belonged to the government of La Rioja while the other craft came from Santiago del Estero," Buenos Aires Herald reported.

Security secretary for La Rioja, Luis César Angulo was quoted  as saying by the newspaper, "Take-off was at 5.10 pm and an explosion occurred a few minutes later. Apparently the two craft collided and the result was 10 fatalities."
