Washington: Former President Donald Trump survived his second impeachment trial, as US senators decided not to convict him on charges of inciting the insurrection at the Capitol.

Trump is thus cleared of the charges over the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol.

According to media reports, 57 senators voted to convict him while 43 held he was not guilty

Reports said seven Republicans had went against their party's former president but it was 10 short of the number required to convict him.
