Washington/Xinhua: One person was killed and another injured on Saturday night in a shooting incident during a protest in the US city of Louisville, Kentucky, local authorities said.

Demonstrators were reportedly protesting against the death of Africa-American 26-year-old emergency medical technician Breonna Taylor.

Reports of shots fired at Jefferson Square Park came in around 9 p.m. local time (0100 GMT on Sunday), after which Jefferson County Sheriff's Department personnel arrived at the site and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police were performing life-saving measures on the man who later died at the scene. The second victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The park has been the epicenter of protest over the death of 26-year-old emergency medical technician Breonna Taylor, an African American woman who was shot dead by police in March.

A supposed video of the incident, which has gone viral on the social media, shows a man resorting to open firing in the park as people try to escape the spot.
