Washington/IBNS: In a very rare case, an infant in the United States died of the Coronavirus pandemic which has crippled several developed nations and claimed over 30,000 lives worldwide.

In the US alone,124,665 positive cases have been detected so far and 2,191 deaths recorded, according to John Hopkins Coronavirus Live tracker.

Governor JB Pritzker, addressing a press conference, on Saturday said "an infant" was among the fatalities related to the novel coronavirus over the previous 24 hours.

The state Department of Public Health informed that the child who died in Chicago was below the age of one year and had tested positive for COVID-19.

In general, the fatalities from COVID-19 include mostly aged-people or the ones with other health troubles.

Meanwhile, US President Donald J Trump on Saturday declared that he is considering quarantine in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

"I am giving consideration to a QUARANTINE of developing “hot spots”, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. A decision will be made, one way or another, shortly," he tweeted.

The country recorded 450 deaths over a period of 24 hours prior to Saturday afternoon.
