Wreckage of missing Pakistani Army helicopter found, 6 officers dead

Islamabad: The wreckage of the Pakistani Army helicopter which went missing in Pakistan's Balochistan region on Monday night has been recovered with all the 6 officers and soldiers onboard found dead.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted: " The wreckage of unfortunate hel which was on flood relief ops found in Musa Goth, Windar, Lasbela. All 6 offrs & sldrs incl Lt Gen Sarfraz Ali embraced shahadat."

The wreckage of the army chopper was found in the Windar area of Lasbela district of the province, the ISPR statement said, adding that the unfortunate helicopter was on a flood relief operation in Balochistan on Monday evening when the accident occurred due to bad weather.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the crash, and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.

The recent heavy rains and floods have wreaked havoc in Balochistan province, killing more than 130 people since June 14, whereas 13,535 houses were partially or fully damaged and over 13,000 livestock perished, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
