Afghanistan Media Lack of access to information during Taliban regime may lead to closure of media in Afghanistan: Reports
Kabul: National Union of Afghanistan’s Journalists has said they do not have any legal document and guideline for media coverage by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan which is making things more difficult for journalists.
Members of the union said that lack of the document and guidelines has led to a lack of access to information that will definitely lead to the collapse of the Afghan media outlets, reports Khaama Press.
They said that after the Taliban takeover, the life of Afghan journalists is getting worse day by day and more restrictions are being imposed on access to information.
Head of the union Msroor Lutfi was quoted as saying by the news agency: "Absence of a legal document and guideline is a serious problem that has made people cover stories by themselves and based on their interests. We cannot address incidents that happen to journalists until we have a guideline by the IEA."
The Taliban took over Afghanistan on Aug 15.
Since then over 70 percent of Afghan media outlets have been closed due to economic woes.
