Bangladesh registers 3,948 new COVID-19 cases

Dhaka/UNI/Xinhua: Bangladesh reported 3,948 new COVID-19 cases and 89 new deaths on Sunday, taking the tally to 1,493,537 and death toll to 26,015, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

The official data showed that 27,921 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Sunday across Bangladesh.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 1,415,697, including 6,466 new recoveries Sunday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.74 percent and the current recovery rate is 94.79 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 16,230 on July 28 and the highest number of 264 deaths twice on Aug. 5 and 10.
