Peshawar: A blast in Pakistan's  Peshawar city on Friday left at least one policeman dead, media reports said on Friday.

The blast in  Karkhano Market  left a person hurt.

In a statement, police initially said that an unidentified person had hurled a grenade at the police mobile during an operation against Covid-19 SOP violations, reports Dawn News.

Peshawar CCPO Abbas Ahsan  visited the spot of the blast and inspected the damage.

The nature of the blast is still not known.

"It can't be said for certain whether it was a grenade attack or some other device was used for the explosion," Ahsan told Dawn News, adding that the explosion took place inside the vehicle.

The deceased police official was identified as police team in-charge Ibn Amin, according to the CCPO.

The injured person was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
