Kabul: The US condemned the killing of two Afghanistan female court judges in Kabul city on Sunday.

US Chargé d’Affaires Ross Wilson tweeted: "The United States condemns today's assassinations of female supreme court judges and calls for a prompt investigation. My condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured."

"The Taliban should understand that such actions for which it bears responsibility outrage the world and must cease if peace is to come to Afghanistan," he said.

Unknown gunmen shot dead two women judges of the Supreme Court on Sunday.

The driver of the car was also injured in the incident.

Qazi Fahim Qoyam, spokesperson of the Supreme Court, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the killing of the two judges.

He said the slain Zakia Haravi and Qadria Yasini were among qualified and experienced judges and they worked in one of the Supreme Court departments in the capital.
