Islamabad/IBNS: The United States has welcomed the Pakistan court's move of indicating 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed and three of his top aides Hafiz Abdul Salam bin Mohammad, Mohammad Ashraf and Zafar Iqbal on terror financing charges.

Hafiz is the Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) group chief.

US acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice G. Wells tweeted: "We welcome the indictment of Hafiz Saeed and his associates. We call for #Pakistan to ensure a full prosecution and expeditious trial in line with its intl obligations to counter terrorist financing and bring the perpetrators of terrorist attacks like 26/11 to justice."

A Pakistan court on Wednesday indicted  Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed who was booked in July for offences pertaining to terror financing.

Saeed and others were present in the court during the proceedings on Wednesday.

Saeed's lawyer presented the argument against the indictment in the court.

On July 17, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab Police registered 23 FIRs against Saeed and his accomplices on the charges of "terror financing" in different cities of Punjab province and arrested the Saeed.
