There will be bloodbath in Kashmir after curfew is lifted: Imran Khan at UNGA

New York, Sep 27 (UNI/IBNS) Attacking India and the Modi government on expected lines, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday slammed the removal of special status of Jammu and Kashmir (read abrogation of Article 370) by New Delhi and continued lockdown in the region while warning of a bloodbath once the curfew is lifted in the troubled spot. The beleagured Pakistan Prime Minister fired on all cylinders to internationalise the Kashmir issue and even painted the spectre of a nuclear war.

"And then their agenda became obvious on August 5 when they went against all laws (and revoked occupied Kashmir's autonomy). They (India) got an extra 1,80,000 troops there, the total forces are now 9,00,000. They have put eight million people under curfew,"  Khan said in his 45-minute-long address to the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Friday.

"What kind of people bring in 9,00,000 troops for eight million people. These are human beings,"  Khan asked even as outside the UN building people from Balochistan, Sindh as well as the Muhajirs of Pakistan protested the continued repression and human rights violations by the Islamic nation.

On the consequences, the Pakistan Prime Minister asked, "Has he (Mr Modi) thought about what will happen after the curfew in Kashmir is lifted?

"What will he do? Does he think the people of Kashmir will quietly accept the status quo?" he further asked.

While India has rejected talks with Pakistan over Kashmir till it shuns the path of exporting terror to India, Imran Khan predicted that lot of violence would take place in Kashmir. "What is going to happen will be a blood bath," he stated.

"Has he (Mr Modi) thought it through what happens then? Has anyone thought what happens when there is a bloodbath?"  Khan asked.

On detention of several political leaders of Kashmir, Mr Khan questioned, "What do you think they (Kashmiris) will think of the way they have been boxed in?"

He claimed that even pro-India local leaders were taken out of Kashmir as part of the crack down and 13,000 boys were picked up and taken to unknown locations.

"And so Kashmiris will be further radicalised. There will be another Pulwana. And they (India) will blame us,"  Khan claimed.

He said that India was accusing Pakistan for lining up 500 terrorists across border. "Why would we send 500 terrorists when there are 900,000 troops?", he questioned.

He claimed that even pro-India local leaders were taken out of Kashmir as part of the crack down and 13,000 boys were picked up and taken to unknown locations.

Khan said there is no other narrative left for India. "Whatever happens we will be blamed," he stated. He alleged that India has fueled radicalisation with the abrogation of Article 370.

"Muslims will become radicals because of this, not because of Islam. Because they see no justice," he alleged. "You are forcing people into radicalisation," he said, addressing the Indian leadership.
"This is one of the most critical times. There will be a reaction to this and Pakistan will be blamed",  Khan stated.

On the possibility of war,  Khan said, "Two nuclear countries will come face to face".

"Before we head there the UN has a responsibility; this is why the UN came into being in 1945. You were supposed to stop this from happening."

"If a conventional war starts between the two countries, supposing a country seven times smaller is faced with a choice to surrender or fight to the end," he stated. "When a nuclear country fights till the end it has consequences far beyond the borders,"  Khan said.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan asked the United Nations to intervene in Kashmir issue. He said the very first action that India needs to take is to lift the curfew in Kashmir and then release all detained prisoners.

Addressing the prevalance of Islamophobia across the world, Khan said it has grown at an alarming pace. "Islamophobia is creating divisions, hijab is becoming a weapon; a woman can take off clothes but she can't put on more clothes.

"It started after 9/11 and it started because certain western leaders equated Islam with terrorism," he claimed. He questioned the use of the term 'radical Islamic terrorism' saying: "There is only one Islam.

"This radical Islamic terrorism used by leaders has caused Islamophobia and has caused pain for Muslims. "In European countries it is marginalising Muslims, and this leads to radicalisation."

"The basis of all religions is compassion and justice which differentiates us from the animal kingdom," he added.
