Bangladesh: Chinese national killed during clash at an under-construction power plant

Dhaka, June 19 (IBNS): Two people, including a Chinese national, were killed during a clash at an under-construction power plant in Kolapara upazila of Bangladesh, media reports said on Wednesday.

The clash centered the death of one Bangladeshi worker Swabindra Das yesterday afternoon, reported The Daily Star newspaper.

After hearing the death news of Swabindra, the other Bangladeshi workers charged at the Chinese workers, Md Manirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kolapara Police Station, told the newspaper.

“Then, the Chinese workers retaliated, triggering a clash. Five Chinese nationals were injured,” he was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

The deceased Chinese national has been identified by the local newspaper as Jang Yang Khang.

He was taken to several medical facilities for the treatment of his injury.

He died at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Jang Yang Khang died of excessive bleeding due to the injury in his head, Bakir Hossain, director of the Barishal medical college, told The Daily Star.
