Japan: Prince Mikasa dies of heart failure, aged 100

Tokyo, Oct 27 (IBNS): Prince Mikasa of Japan, the uncle of Emperor Akihito, died on Thursday of heart failure, reports said.

He was 100 years old.

Mikasa served in the Japanese military during World War II and was a researcher in oriental history.

He died at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Chuo Ward, The Asahi Shimbun reported.

Mikasa's wife of 75 years, Yuriko, 93, was by his side at the time of his death.
