Theresa May calls off MPs' vote on Brexit deal

London, Dec 10 (IBNS): UK Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday called off the crucial MPs' vote on her Brexit deal anticipating rejection by a significant margin.

The voting on the deal, which May struck with the EU, was scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

May now intends to visit Brussels and ask for changes to it. The PM admitted the deal in the current form "would be rejected by a significant margin".

Labour party's Jeremy Corbyn reacted to the development saying May had "lost control of events". Other MPs also voiced their disapproval.

The PM didn't name a new date for the vote because she said it depended on the length of the talks with the EU. However, the final deadline for the vote would be January 21, 2019.

May said the UK's departure date from the EU was March 29 and her government would ensure the deadline was met.
