Bengal polls: Discarded VVPAT slips spark outrage in North 24 Parganas
Hours before the official vote count for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, a major controversy erupted in North 24 Parganas.
VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) slips, allegedly linked to booth 29 of Noapara Assembly constituency, were discovered abandoned in the Subhashnagar area of Madhyamgram.
The discovery prompted an immediate response from local law enforcement and CPIM candidate Gargi Chatterjee, raising serious questions about electoral security in a high-stakes race involving prominent figures like TMC's Trinankur Bhattacharjee and BJP's Arjun Singh.
ECI has sought report by North 24 Parganas DEO.
