Concerned Diyarbakir architects implore UNESCO intervention

Architects from the Kurdish-majority southeastern city of Diyarbakir have written to UNESCO to voice their concerns about the destruction of a protected, historical neighbourhood in the city. The area of Sur is on UNESCO's World Heritage list but has been destroyed through months of conflict between the Turkish army and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
