No visa for 30 days: Uzbekistan announces major travel move for Indian citizens

The announcement came during delegation-level talks between Modi and Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, held as part of the Indian Prime Minister's two-day visit to the Central Asian country.

Sharing details of the new visa regime, the official website of the Uzbek President said, "It was also emphasized that the 30-day visa-free regime and 14 weekly flights between the two countries will contribute to the further development of tourism."

Mirziyoyev said a comprehensive roadmap would be developed to ensure the full implementation of the agreements reached during the talks. He also expressed gratitude to Modi and all participants in the discussions.

India was among the first countries to recognise Uzbekistan's sovereignty following its independence.

The protocol establishing diplomatic relations between India and Uzbekistan was signed in Tashkent on March 18, 1992.

The two countries elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2011.

According to the website of the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan, the Indian community in the country is estimated at around 17,500 people. It includes approximately 16,300 students enrolled at various universities and around 1,200 workers and business professionals.
