12 dead after bus with 30 passengers falls from Mahanadi bridge in Cuttack

Cuttack (Odisha), Nov 21 (ANI): In a shocking incident, a bus carrying 30 passengers fell from Mahanadi bridge near Jagatpur in Odisha’s Cuttack on Tuesday, caused the death of 12 people. The accident occurred after the bus hit a buffalo on the bridge, following which it veered off and plunged off the bridge. The rescue operations are still underway.

12 killed, 13 injured after overloaded van plunges into gorge in J&K’s Kishtwar

Kishtwar (J&K), Sep 14 (ANI): At least 12 people were killed and 13 injured after an overloaded matador van they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge. The accident occurred at around 9 am earlier in the day in Thakrai area of Kishtwar district, when the vehicle, packed with passengers, was coming from Keshwan, Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana said. A large-scale rescue operation is underway.

Hyderabad, Aug 02 (ANI): J9 608 Al-Kuwait- Hyderabad airline of Jazeera Airways caught fire in Hyderabad. The incident took place while the plane was landing. Around 149 passengers were onboard when the incident took place. No causalities have been reported.

13 killed in Indonesia boat capsize

New Delhi, Jun 14 (ANI): At least 13 people were died on Wednesday when a passenger boat, packed with holidaymakers, heading to home to celebrate the end of Ramadan, capsized off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Nearly 22 passengers were rescued and admitted to hospital for treatment. Many people are said to be still missing. The boat reportedly hit a large wave amid bad weather and capsized. Search operations for the missing people are underway.

Railway passengers to pay 6-time penalty for carrying excess luggage

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Jun 06 (ANI): Following the complaints of excessive luggage being towed into train compartments, the Indian Railways is all set to implement new set of rules. The over-three-decades-old baggage allowance rules will come in practice according to which if a passenger is caught travelling with overweight luggage, he/she has to pay up to six times the stipulated amount as penalty. According to prescribed norms, a sleeper class and second class passenger can carry a luggage weighing 40 kg and 35 kg respectively without paying any extra money. A maximum of 80 kg and 70 kg respectively can be carried by paying for the excess luggage at the parcel office. In addition, the extra luggage has to be put in the luggage van.

Nizamabad (Telangana), Mar 25 (ANI): At least ten persons died after an auto carrying 14 passengers fell into a huge pit in Nizamabad's Mendora on Sunday. The deceased include four women and six children. The bodies were fished out of the well. Police investigation is underway.

Requested Sports Minister to meet me in two days: Para-athlete Suvarna Raj

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): Para-athlete-turned-social worker Suvarna Raj on Monday requested the Sports Minister to give her time to meet within two days so that she can tell him about problems the athletes are facing. Otherwise, she will stage a big protest and quit the game. Raj rose to fame in June 2017 when she was forced to sleep on floor of Garib Rath after railway officials and co-passengers refused to give her a lower berth in exchange for the upper berth she had been allotted.
