New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Air Marshal Anil Khosla on Monday inspected guard of honour at Indian Air Force Headquarter. He is the new Vice Chief of Air Force. Khosla has succeeded S B Deo as the Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force. Deo's tenure ended on September 30 and September 28 was his last working day. On September 26, S B Deo had accidentally shot himself in his thigh and is undergoing treatment. He is recovering and his condition is stable.

Himachal Pradesh rains: IAF conducts rescue operation

Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 26 (ANI): Heavy rains have battered regions of Himachal Pradesh triggering landslides and causing increase in water level of river Baes. Indian Air Force choppers have been deployed to conduct rescue operations and help the affected. People from different parts of Lahaul will be airlifted to Stingri helipad by the chopper. Particularly four districts of Kullu, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti have been worst affected by the rains. At least eight people have lost their lived in the flood like situation in the state.

Kullu flash floods: IAF chopper rescues 19 stranded people

Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 24 (ANI): An Indian Air Force chopper rescued 19 people stranded due to flash floods from flood-hit Dobhi-Fojal area in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu.   Incessant rains caused flash floods in Kullu and Manali. Himachal Pradesh is dealing with flood like situation as well as land and mud slides in many parts of the state. Many districts of the state are witnessing continuous rains. Heavy rainfall has swollen up water level in Kullu’s Beas River. The continuous rainfall has resulted in merging drainage and river water in the district.

IAF drops relief materials in flood-hit regions of Ernakulam & Thirussur

Ernakulam/Thirussur (Kerala), Aug 20 (ANI): As Kerala struggles with flood situation due to havoc created by incessant rains, rescue and relief operations in the state are underway. Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft continued distributing relief materials across the flood-ravaged state. IAF dropped relief materials to the stranded people in flood-affected regions of Ernakulam and Thirussur districts of Kerala. The devastating floods in the state have claimed over 357 lives so far, with over two lakh people sheltered in relief camps.

IAF’s Jaguar fighter jet crashes in Kutch, pilot dies

Kutch (Gujarat), Jun 05 (ANI): In a shocking turn of events, Indian Air Force’s Jaguar fighter jet crashed in Mundra Taluka of Gujarat’s Kutch region on Tuesday. The aircraft took off from Jamnagar air base for a routine training mission this morning. The pilot, Sanjay Chauhan, has died in the crash. A court of enquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of accident.

Kedarnath (Uttarakhand), Apr 03 (ANI): The Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17 helicopter was crashed during landing near Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The Mi-17 helicopter, which was flying to Kedarnath carrying some stuff for the Army, caught fire following a collision with an iron girder while landing at a helipad.

‘Rafale Deal’ is not overpriced: IAF Chief BS Dhanoa

Jalandhar (Punjab), Nov 16 (ANI): Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, on Thursday claimed that the ‘Rafale Deal’ is not overpriced. “There is no controversy. It is not overpriced. The government has negotiated a very good deal”, Dhanoa asserted. “I think we have negotiated a better deal in the Rafale contract than what we did in MMRCA (Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft)”, the IAF Chief further said. The deal is a pact to purchase 36 Rafale fighter jets from France.

Indian, Russian fighter pilots soar high on tri-services military drill

Vladivostok (Russia), Oct 25 (ANI): Indian and Russian fighter pilots flew together to exercise tri-services military exercise 'Indra 2017'. The exercise began in Vladivostok last week. Over 80 Indian Air Force personnel, two massive transport aircraft, 350 soldiers from the Indian Army and two Indian Navy warships are participating in the first-ever Tri-Services Joint Exercise between the Armed Forces of the two nations. The objective of the entire exercise is to promote professional interactions, establishment of joint command and control structures between India and Russia. More than 1,000 troops of the 5th Army, Marines and ships of Pacific Fleet and aircrafts are participating from the Russian side.

Unnao (U.P.), Oct 24 (ANI): The Indian Air Force began its drill to touchdown the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Unnao on Tuesday. This was the first time that any transport aircraft landed and then took off from an expressway. The three-hour long exercise simulates an emergency situation when airbases, the first target of bombs and missiles, won't be available for air operations, necessitating use of highways as landing strips.

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 08 (ANI): Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa on Sunday assured the nation on behalf of all air warriors of their sacred resolve in defending the sovereignty of nation’s skies. While addressing air force personnel on the 85th Air Force Day, Dhanoa said the IAF is ready to strike at short notice.

China expected to withdraw army from Chumbi Valley soon: Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa

New Delhi, Oct 05 (ANI): Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa on Thursday said that Chinese troops are still stationed in the Chumbi valley in Doklam area and hoped they go back soon. Dhanoa added that the communist nation’s forces are expected to start thinning once winters commence. The Air Force chief also hoped that India and China will diplomatically resolve the issue. In June this year, India and China had a stand-off after Chinese troops entered Bhutanese territory to build a road.

IAF capable of fighting two-front war: Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa

New Delhi, Oct 05 (ANI): Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, on Thursday asserted that the Indian Air Force (IAF) is capable of fighting a two-front war, if required. Dhanoa made the statement while he was addressing at IAF's annual press conference in the national capital. Speaking upon the surgical strike, he said that any decision on surgical strike involving the IAF has to be taken by the government, adding that they are ready to take on any challenge. "A surgical strike is a decision that has to be taken by the Government of India. The IAF has the capability to carry out a full spectrum of air operations," he emphasised.
