BHU Sanskrit dept students protest against Muslim professor's appointment

Varanasi/IBNS: The "Sahitya" or the literature wing of the Sanskrit Vidya Dharm Vijnan, which is a unit of the prestigious Banaras Hindu University, is facing a lockout for nearly two weeks with students protesting the appointment of a Muslim man as Assistant Professor in the department.

BHU violence: Chief proctor resigns taking moral responsibilty

Varanasi, Sep 27 (IBNS): Taking moral responsibility of the violence in Benaras Hindu University (BHU), which erupted following the protest against the sexual harassment of a female student, chief proctor of the university, O N Singh, has resigned from his post, media reports said.
