Modi government to borrow Rs. 1.1 lakh cr on behalf of states for GST compensation

New Delhi/IBNS: After months of confrontation over the Goods and Services Tax (GST) dues, the Centre has decided to borrow Rs. 1.1 lakh crore on behalf of the states prompting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to explain the reason behind the government's change in stance over the issue, media reports said.

June GST collection stands at Rs. 90,917crore

New Delhi/IBNS: The gross GST revenue collected in the month of June, 2020 is Rs. 90,917crore of which CGST is Rs. 18,980crore, SGST is Rs. 23,970crore, IGST is Rs. 40,302crore (including Rs. 15,709crore collected on import of goods) and Cess is Rs.7,665 crore (including Rs. 607crore collected on import of goods).

GST Council meet: No late fee for GST returns filing for entities with nil tax liability

New Delhi/IBNS: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday chaired the crucial  40th GST Council meeting where it was announced that there will be no late fee for delayed filing of GST returns by registered entities with nil tax liability between July 2017 to January 2020. 

GST collection for March 2020 stands at Rs 97,597 crore

New Delhi/IBNS: The gross GST revenue collected in the month of March, 2020 is Rs. 97,597crore of which CGST is Rs. 19,183 crore, SGST is Rs. 25,601 crore, IGST is Rs. 44,508 crore (including Rs. 18,056 crore collected on imports) and Cess is Rs. 8,306 crore (including Rs. 841 crore collected on imports), the government said in a statement today.
