Ranchi/IBNS: India cricket superstar Virat Kohli slammed his 52nd One Day International (ODI) century on Sunday, sending fans at the JSCA International Stadium Complex and viewers across the nation into celebrations.

Kohli reached his century in 102 balls, finishing with a boundary in the first ODI against South Africa.

The last time the cricket icon scored a hundred was during the Champions Trophy early this year.

The 37-year-old, now focused solely on ODIs, celebrated by punching the air, kissing his necklace, and thanking the Almighty, silencing critics who had prematurely questioned his form.

"Experience and class are not sold or borrowed in the market," said former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri lauding Kohli from the commentary box.

During the celebrations, a fan managed to enter the field and touch Kohli’s feet before security personnel intervened to ensure his safety.

Earlier in the innings, former India captain Rohit Sharma contributed a brisk 57 off 51 balls, helping the hosts dominate the afternoon session with the bat.
