With his sensational batting against Australia in the third and final T20I match Sunday, India's star batsman Virat Kohli surpassed Team India head coach Rahul Dravid to become the second highest run-scorer for the country in international cricket.

Kohli with his 24,078 runs in 471 matches is now only behind cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored 34,357 in 664 matches for India.

Dravid, a former classy right-handed batsman, scored 24,064 runs in 404 matches, followed by cricket greats Sourav Ganguly and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In white ball cricket too, Kohli became the second highest run scorer crossing the 16,000-mark to settle only behind Tendulkar.

Kohli, a former Indian skipper, scored 12,344 runs in 262 One Day International (ODI) matches and 3,660 runs in 107 Twenty 20 Internationals for India.

The 33-year-old slammed a match-winning 63 off 48 balls to power India to a six-wicket win over Australia to clinch the T20I series 2-1 in Hyderabad Sunday night.
