'Virat Kohli has a big ego...': Ollie Robinson ahead of India-England Test series

| @indiablooms | Jan 20, 2024, at 05:55 pm

English bowler Ollie Robinson has said Virat Kohli has a "big ego" heating up the atmosphere days ahead of the mega India-England Test series.

Kohli had reserved some words for Robinson when the latter walked out to bat during India-England Lord's Test match in 2021.

Robinson, who had dismissed Kohli thrice during that series, has now come up with a new statement which might be just a hint to the upcoming fierce contest between the two on field.

The English cricketer said as quoted by Hindustan Times, "You always want to play against the best players, don't you? And you always want to get the best players out. Kohli is one of those.

"He's got a big ego and I think playing on that, especially in India, where he is going to want to dominate and score runs, playing on the fact we've had battles in the past, is exciting."

Apart from Kohli, who was in form in India's last Test series against South Africa, Robinson talked about learning from pace bowlers Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma.

"I've actually been practising Mohammed Shami's dead-straight seam," Robinson said and added, "He's one of the best bowlers for India. I was looking at Ishant (Sharma) as well - he played at Sussex for a bit and he's done really well in India for quite a while. He's tall, similar to me."

The five-match Test series between India and England will begin on January 25.
