Vettori quits international cricket

Wellington, Mar 31 (IBNS): New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori has said he has played his last game for his national side when he competed against Australia in the final of the World Cup last Sunday.

Vettori played the final match of the World Cup against Australia in Melbourne where his side lost the clash by seven wickets.

"It was my last game for New Zealand," Vettori was quoted as saying to media.

He said playing the final match of the World Cup for his national side was a 'lovely way' to finish his career.

Vettori has plated 113 Tests, 295 ODIs and 34 T20 Internationals for New Zealand.

West Indies cricketer Darren Sammy tweeted: "Congrats on an excellent career to Daniel Vettori. Now I'm looking forward to his coaching skills @RCBTweets."

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle  said: "Daniel Vettori ends an outstanding international career. Can be proud of what he did."

Former Indian captain Anil Kumble tweeted: "Congratulations Dan on a great career. Wishing you the very best in the future! #DanielVettori #Respect."
