New York, Sept 13 (IBNS) Flavia Pennetta emerged victorious after a grueling match of tennis, battling against fellow compatriot Roberta Vinci to lift the Women's Singles title, here on Saturday.
Vinci, who made the headlines after her unexpected win against top contender Serena Williams in the semis which halted her progress and dream of winning a calendar Grand Slam, received a setback as she lost the mega final in straight sets.

The one hour long first set was won 7(7)-6(4) by Pennetta. She clinched the second set 6-2 to win her first Singles Grand Slam title.
