Tokyo Olympics: Wrestler Deepak Punia loses, to play bronze medal bout tomorrow

| @indiablooms | Aug 04, 2021, at 10:51 pm

Tokyo/IBNS: Deepak Punia lost to USA's DM Taylor Iii in men's freestyle wrestling in the 86kg category.

The bout ended rather quickly as Taylor overpowered Punia right from the beginning.

Punia was warned and lost one point to Taylor for passivity.

The American took control of the match, got Deepak onto the ground, and went on to score a flurry of points.

At this point, Deepak tried to counter Taylor's attack but Taylor lifted him and pushed him out of the centre.

Deepak will play the repechage 1 against the winner of the match between Myles Amine and Ali Shabanau for bronze medal on Thursday.
