Tokyo: Carrington wins her third Olympic women's kayak single 200m gold

Tokyo/UNI/Xinhua: Six-time world champion Lisa Carrington of New Zealand had a commanding victory in women's kayak single 200m to win her third Olympic gold here on Tuesday.

Back-to-back London and Rio champion Lisa Carrington, who refreshed Olympic best time at 38.127 seconds in the semifinals earlier on Tuesday, improved the mark to 38.120 with a substantial lead before the finish line.

Spain's Teresa Portela took the silver in 38.883 while Denmark's Emma Aastrand Jorgensen bagged a bronze 0.018 seconds further behind.

The 32-year-old Carrington will feature in the kayak double 500m event an hour later.
