Tim David's heroics in vain as Mumbai Indians fail to overwhelm Sunrisers Hyderabad

Mumbai/IBNS: An 18-ball 46 by Tim David was certainly looking ominous for Sunrisers Hyderabad until the batsman paid the price for his unreasonable and desperate attempt to steal a single in the last ball of the 18th over leading Mumbai Indians to their three-run defeat in an Indian Premier League match Tuesday.

Batting first, Hyderabad scored 193/6 in 20 overs in a must win match, courtesy to Rahul Tripathi's aggressive 76 off 44 balls and Priyam Garg's 42 off 26 balls.

Ramandeep Singh was the star bowler for Mumbai with his three wickets for 20 runs in three overs.

Chasing the target, Mumbai started off pretty convincingly with both their openers, captain Rohit Sharma (48 off 36 balls) and Ishan Kishan (43 off 34 balls) successfully handling the Hyderabad bowlers.

The dismissal of the opening duo found Mumbai in a spot of bother as the blue brigade stumbled in the middle overs barring David's heroics to end up scoring 190/7 in 20 overs.

Umran Malik was the best bowler for Hyderabad with a bowling figure of 3/23 in three overs.

With the win, Hyderabad, who have 12 points with one match to go now, have kept themselves alive in the race to reach the playoffs.
