Test: Harbhajan Singh goes past Wasim Akram to become ninth highest wicket-taker

Dhaka, June 14 (IBNS): Making a comeback in the national side after a long time, Harbhajan Singh did not forget to make a mark as he picked up three wickets in the Bangladesh team's first innings and also surpassed Pakistan legend Wasim Akram’s tally of Test wickets to climb to ninth position in the list of highest wicket- takers.

Dismissing Imrul Kayes, Singh took his 415th wicket and surpassed the former Pakistan captain.

Taking up three wickets against Bangladesh, Singh has 416 wickets from 102 matches.

Akram took 414 wickets in the 104 Tests he played in his career.

He is 20 short of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev (434) to become the second highest wicket-taker in the country after leg-spinner Anil Kumble who tops the list with 619 wickets.

In the international bowlers list, Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka tops the chart with 800 wickets.
