India put up an all-round performance to beat Afghanistan by 47 runs in a Super 8 stage match of the ongoing T20 World Cup here on Friday.

This is the first time India participated in the West Indies leg of the tournament after dominating the group stage show in the US where the Men In Blue remained unbeaten.

After posting competitive 181 runs for the loss of eight wickets, Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, bowled out the opposition team for 134.

Bumrah and young pacer Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets while Kuldeep Yadav scalped two to destroy the Afghanistani batting lineup.

Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed two Afghanistani batsmen each.

Azmatullah Omarzai remained the top scorer for the side with his 26.

Najibullah Zadran (19), Mohammad Nabi (14) and Gulbadin Naib (17) could not convert the start they got in the match.

Earlier, riding on Suryakumar Yadav's stylish 53 runs knock, India posted 181 on the scorecard.

Skipper Rohit Sharma failed to contribute with the willow as he was dismissed for 8.

Virat Kohli (24), Hardik Pandya (32) and Rishabh Pant (20) were major contributors for the team.

Afghanistani bowlers Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi managed to pick three wickets each.
