Sourav Ganguly's new chapter in life is about 'actively' supporting coaches, educators and teachers

Kolkata/IBNS: Ending speculations, Indian cricket board (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly Thursday said he will be actively supporting all coaches, educators and teachers across the world in his next journey that he undertakes from 2022.

Ganguly led people to speculate over his next venture after he posted a cryptic tweet Wednesday evening.

Later when people were speculating about his joining politics, the former Indian cricket captain cleared he was about to launch an educational app.

In further clarification, Ganguly Thursday wrote on social media, "For ages, we have been glorifying actors, players, and successful CEOs for the remarkable work they have done. It is time that we glorify the true heroes, their COACHES and EDUCATORS."

"I want to do something for all the coaches, educators and teachers across the world. Starting today, I will actively work to support all of them by being their ambassador."

Known for his closeness to Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ganguly's post raised speculations about his imminent entry into politics.

With Ganguly taking a nostalgic look back on the beginning of his journey in international cricket 30 years back, his post was also interpreted as a precursor to him stepping down as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had to rush in to clarify that the former Indian cricket captain had not resigned from the top post in the board.

Ganguly's possible foray into politics has been a discussion point for nearly two years. Prior to last year's Assembly polls, there was much speculation about the BJP's keenness to project Ganguly as its face in Bengal.
