Kolkata/IBNS: Almost 14 years after his retirement from international cricket, former Indian captain and current cricket board (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly is equally busy and wanted in various capacities.

Ganguly, who is credited for changing the face of Indian cricket in a span of five-six years from 2000-2005, called off his international career in 2008 playing a four-match Test series against Australia at home.

As the "Prince of Kolkata" turned 50 Friday, India Blooms highlights key roles he has played since his retirement.

Commentary

Like a number of his predecessors, Ganguly was welcomed into the commentary box which are otherwise dominated by the likes of Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle.

Ganguly did his cricket commentary even in big ICC tournaments including Cricket World Cups.

Hosting

The biggest surprise Ganguly brought post retirement was hosting shows on television. He was roped in by Zee for a Bengali quiz show, named Dadagiri Unlimited, which still runs season-wise every year.

He has also anchored the Bengali version of Kaun Banega Crorepati, whose Hindi version is hosted by acting legend Amitabh Bachchan.

Cricket administrative duties

After briefly serving as the secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), he took charge as the president of the body following the demise of Jagmohan Dalmilya in 2015. He remained in office till 2019.

In 2019, Ganguly became the new president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In November last year, the former skipper was appointed as the Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Cricket Committee, replacing legendary spin bowler Anil Kumble.

Advisor

Ganguly was appointed as the advisor of IPL franchise Delhi Capitals in Mar 2019.

Team ownership

Along with Harshavardhan Neotia, Sanjiv Goenka and Utsav Parekh, Ganguly co-owned the football tournament Indian Super League (ISL)'s Kolkata franchise, ATK (then Atletico de Kolkata) in 2014.
