Shubman Gill continued to shine as the new captain of the White brigade with India beating West Indies by seven wickets in the second Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi to secure 2-0 series win and earn 12 crucial World Test Championship points on Tuesday.

This also marked Gill's first series victory as a skipper.

Chasing a moderate target of 121 runs, India reached 124 for 3 in 35.2 overs on Day 5.

Opener KL Rahul led the charge with an unbeaten 58 off 108 balls, while B Sai Sudharsan contributed 39.

Captain Shubman Gill added 13 before being caught by Justin Greaves off Roston Chase.

Wicket-keeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel opened his account with a boundary and showed growing confidence in the middle order.

Aggressive strokes from Rahul and Gill ensured India crossed the line with seven wickets in hand.

Riding on strong performances by KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal, India had earlier posted massive first innings total of 518 for 5.

Marking an improvement from their Ahmedabad performance, West Indies responded with 248 in their first innings and following on made 390 in the second.

Kuldeep Yadav claimed eight wickets across the match and was named Player of the Match, while Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged the Player of the Series, backing on his all-round impact.
