Series against South Africa: Pakistan Cricket Board announces squad for 1st Test

Karachi/UNI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced a 17-member squad for the first Test against South Africa, set to begin on Tuesday at the National Stadium here.

Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam and Salman Ali Agha - who were named as probables and part of the training camp in the lead-up to this series, have been left out of the squad.

However, the three players will continue to be part of the squad and will feature in warm-up and training sessions at the National Stadium.

'The playing line-up with now be finalised by the captain in consultation with the head coach,' the PCB said in a statement.

It will be Babar Azam's first Test as Pakistan's captain and he has a relatively young squad at his disposal with six players yet to make their debuts.

Squad: Abid Ali, Imran Butt, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam (c), Fawad Alam, Saud Shakeel, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Yasir Shah, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Tabish Khan
